Dia de los Pets is an Altar Exhibit open to participants that have lost a beloved pet and would like to honor them in a unique and special way. Altars, also known as ofrendas (offerings), are a central symbol of the Dia de los Muertos. An altar may include a variety of items that are reminders of the honoree such as flowers, candles, portraits, collars, poems, favorite stories, favorite foods, favorite toys, etc..
This exhibit will be open to the public for viewing.
REGISTRATION AND ARRIVAL PROCESS
Set-up Time: 2:00 pm (please do not arrive before)
Set-up must be complete by: 5:30 pm
Take-down Time: Immediately after event ( all items must be removed by 9:30 pm)
Please check in upon arrival. Once you have unloaded, we ask that you park your car towards the rear of parking lot (former VFW Hall, 1529 S. Harlem Avenue, Berwyn).
The following is a list of rules we ask that you follow:
◉ You are responsible for obtaining, setting up, attending, and cleaning your area.
◉ We will not provide table or chairs.
◉ Please contain your display within the space allotted. All spaces are approximately 5’ x 8’ and must not exceed 6’ in height.
◉ Live pets will not be allowed.
◉ Please be respectful of other displays and maintain social distance.
◉ We will not provide access to electrical outlets to display lights or anything else requiring electricity.
◉ Burning of candles is NOT allowed (only battery operated).
◉ Items deemed to be inappropriate will be asked to be removed.
◉ The park district is not responsible for your items; please make sure someone is watching them at all times.
◉ Wall space will not be available (no hanging items on the walls).
◉ Face masks must be worn at all times
