North Berwyn Park District Hosts Senior Workshop on Modern Day Scams

Berwyn, Illinois– June 5, 2024 – On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the North Berwyn Park District hosted an insightful and informative workshop for seniors, titled "Modern Day Scams", presented by Diane Salemi and Areeje Sammak from Republic Bank. The workshop was held at the Community Center and was designed to educate seniors on the increasingly sophisticated tactics used by scammers to exploit vulnerable individuals.

Throughout the session, Diane and Areeje provided valuable tips on how to recognize and protect against various types of scams, from fraudulent financial schemes to identity theft and health insurance fraud. Participants learned how scammers often build trust before going after sensitive personal information, including financial details and physical possessions. The workshop aimed to empower seniors with the knowledge and tools needed to avoid becoming victims of these harmful scams.
