Joseph C. Vallez Activity Center: 1529 Harlem Avenue

The Joseph C. Vallez Activity Center will serve as home to the some of the Park District's administrative offices, classroom space, and future Senior Center. This location will also be available for indoor and outdoor rental spaces for meetings, birthdays, etc.. This location also features a Veterans Memorial.

Varies, open only when classes are in session.
Available for viewing by appointment

This venue offers two (2) rental options:
Upper level and the Lower level.

Each level includes set-up of tables and chairs and access to our parking lot.

UPPER LEVEL RENTAL: 3 hour minimum
Deposit: $350 required to secure date

District Fee: $150 per hour
Non District Fee: $175 per hour

501c3 Berwyn Organization: $125 per hour
501c3 Non Berwyn Organization: $175 per hour

Berwyn Business: $150 per hour
Non Berwyn Business: $175 per hour

Bartender Cost: $25 per hour, per bartender 3 hour minimum
Security: Fee TBD based on rental times
Security is required by the City of Berwyn when serving alcohol

Cleaning Fee: $100

JCV RENTAL POLICIES:

Deposit $350.00 - Required to secure date.

50% Payment Due: 14 days before the event
100 % payment Due: 7 days before the event

Event layout due: 10 days before event
Liquor arrangements: due 10 days before the event.  

CANCELLATION POLICY:

CANCEL 31 days before the event:100 % refund of all fees paid including deposit.
CANCEL 30 days before the event:50% refund of deposit, all other fees paid will be refunded.
CANCEL 14 days before the event:100% of the deposit lost, all other fees paid will be refunded.

SECURITY REQUIREMENT:
The City of Berwyn requires Berwyn police to be present when liquor is being served at events.
The park district requests Berwyn police when a deposit is submitted for an event. While, police coverage is usually secured, there may be times coverage is not available. This may result in the event being cancelled but the park district will exhaust all options before considering cancellation of an event.

DECORATING:
The park district will make every effort to allow renters to have time to decorate. Arrangements will be made based on other scheduled events at the facility. Minimally, renters will be allowed two hours of time on the day of the event to decorate.

PARK DISTRICT RULES:
The Park District reserves the right to enforce any additional rules that may not be listed or included in the rental agreement. This discretionary authority is based on circumstances that may arise and actions for the good of the park district. The park district may exercise discretionary authority without prior notice. Renting the Joseph C. Vallez facility is assumed approval and agreement to all rules and policies.

Please be aware of the following general park use guidelines.
• All areas close at dusk.
• No glass or metal containers allowed.
• No alcoholic beverages.
• No pets or animals of any kind allowed on Park District property.
• Exception: Pets are allowed on a leash at the Berwyn Gardens.Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
• Rollerblades and skateboards are prohibited in the Berwyn Gardens Gazebo and Pyrce Park.
• Playground equipment is designed for youth under eleven years of age.
• Parents are responsible for the supervision and conduct of their children at all times.
• Inspect play areas before starting play.
• No loitering.
• Play at your own risk.  
You are responsible for determining if you or your child are physically fit and properly skilled for any activity.
