Today we mourn the loss of our dear and beloved Myrtle Slawko (February 3, 1926-November 9, 2024), former Commissioner and Vice President of the North Berwyn Park District Board of Commissioners and long time Berwyn resident (68 yrs.).

Myrtle had been a constant presence, greeting all of us as we came in to work with a warm smile and a friendly word every morning from her backyard.

Whether it was a quick chat or a gentle pat on the back for her loyal companion, Maxx, Myrtle's warmth and kindness were always there to start our day.

Things haven't been quite the same since March, when she moved to South Carolina to be closer to her daughter, Kyle. Before she left, we were lucky to spend an afternoon with her in the office, celebrating her and reflecting on the many memories she had with NBPD.

"The Commish" as Executive Director, Joe Vallez referred to her, was instrumental in moving the North Berwyn Park District to the many successes we celebrate today.

We all missed her when she moved away, and now, we will miss her even more, as she has graduated from this life.

Myrtle’s presence left an indelible mark on all of us, and her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

We'll miss you and Maxx, always.....
